Body “Mech”-anics
Mon 6:30 p.m.
Online and In-Person
Your favorite prehab practice now in an hour long format! The same content you know and love from our Quarantine Body Mech, now with extra time for individual focus and breakdowns of each exercise. Our bodies are wonderful machines, but at times various parts could use a little extra grease. Each week we will focus on a different set of movements- for our purposes a mini-bot which is part of the mega-mech (that’s you)- with the intention of mobilizing and strengthening our bodies for other movement disciplines, or just to keep the gears turning.
Minibots will receive mobility and resistance programming to increase range of motion and to prevent and rehab common injuries. When they assemble, your mech will be strong enough to put “Defender of the Universe” on your resume. This class is perfect for anyone looking to improve their mech’s processing speed, joint mechanics and body awareness, and for any and all who may be called upon to defeat giant lizards in defense of the planet.
All humans of all skill levels are welcome, and modifications will be provided.
-Optional Equipment: exercise mat, blocks, looped therabands, small weights, sliders
-Equipment Substitutions: Dictionaries, pillows, dish towels, canned goods, socks.
Plyometric Pancake - On Hold
Get a helluva workout without a big time commitment in this 30-minute high-energy format.
Plyometric Pancake - Part of a balanced-body breakfast
Think of cross-training practice as a stack of pancakes. If you're making pancakes for breakfast you're going to want the right ingredients: flour, eggs, baking soda. If, say, dance training is the flour, resistance and flexibility practice are the eggs, and plyometrics is the baking soda.
Plyometrics is a form of exercise that focuses on producing powerful muscle contractions in short periods of time, usually through jumping or explosive movement. Much like our baking soda, we're making little bubbles of energy so our pancakes can rise. With continued application, plyometrics can help create a safer, more sustainable movement practice through dynamic joint stability and increase fast-twitch muscle activation, coordination, and stamina. Make your movement pancakes fluffy, bouncy, and sustainable by adding this ingredient to keep your breakfast from falling flat.
This will be a multi-level class. Participants can choose their level of difficulty and, as always, modifications will be provided.
